I chair both the Coding and Third Party Reimbursement Committee of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Third Party Liaison Committee of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.  I am also a member of the American Medical Association’s CPT Advisory Committee.  I am an alternate to the Florida Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee.

I hold this certification through the American Health Information Management Association which in part designates: In-depth knowledge of the CPT coding system and familiarity with the ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II coding systems Expertise in health information documentation, data integrity, and quality

I hold academic degrees in engineering (B.S.), medicine (M.D.), and business administration (M.B.A.); and certification in coding (CCS-P).   Each of these specializations contributes to my analytical and presentation skills as a medical coding expert.

This is a committee of the American Medical Association comprised of experts in their respective fields. Committee members create and respond to proposals to add, delete, and change CPT codes. I have served on this committee since 2003.

I am familiar with coding systems including Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10 and ICD-9), Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs), Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs),  and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) payment systems.
